The rose garden was dedicated in 1976 as a bicentennial tribute to the nation. This garden has been accredited as one of 130 All-American Rose Selections Display Garden. Over 3,000 rose plants representing more than 430 varieties grow in this garden. At the height of bloom, mid-May through October, more than 250,000 rose blooms may be seen. This garden has an accessible terrace
overlooking rest areas, fountains, and picturesque garden surroundings.
Along the banks of the canal is the All-American Rose Selections Test Garden where 15-25 new varieties are evaluated each year. Only 26 gardens in the country test roses for AARS.
