Storm damage won't dampen our spirits!

water damage from Ernesto

Wind and water won't prevent World of Wonders from opening as planned

Norfolk, VA – Norfolk Botanical Garden will celebrate the grand opening of World of Wonders – A Children's Adventure Garden this weekend as scheduled, despite damage left behind by Tropical Storm Ernesto.  Since before dawn this morning, the sounds of chainsaws, sweepers and blowers have been heard throughout the Garden, as staff members and volunteers work diligently to make sure opening festivities won't be affected.  A few locations have been changed and tram routes have been altered, but we're happy to say we'll be ready to open the gates of the largest Children's Garden on the East Coast as planned, at 9:30 this morning.

Here's a look at today's activities:

Breakfast with Flumpa & Friends – 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. $5 per person, includes breakfast from the Silver Diner – Rose Garden Hall.

Traditional huts to be built and furnished in Werowocomoco Woods
Flumpa Live in Baker Hall at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 & 3:30 p.m. daily
Storyteller Lynn Ruehlmann gives an introduction to Greek theater in Exploration Station, with stories from the Odyssey, Perseus and Aesop’s Fables.  12:30 & 2:30 p.m. daily
