Don't forget -- in December the American Bald Eagles will be home for their nesting season.  That means in accordance with U.S. Dept of Wildlife guidelines we will be putting up fencing to protect them.  The massive nest is in a loblolly pine tree located between the Matson Garden and Renaissance Court.  To make sure the couple has the privacy and protection it needs to nest, we will put up fencing in the areas around the tree they call home.  That means part of the Garden will be closed to foot traffic throughout the winter and early spring, including the Matson Garden and surrounding areas.  But you can still enjoy the view from NATO tower!  Please keep in mind it is a federal offense that carries a minimum $10,000 fine if you go beyond the barricades or keep any eagle feathers you may find at the Garden.  If you see any on the ground, please let a Garden staffer know.
